Every year majority of people make New Year’s “Resolutions”. You shouldn’t have to wait for the ball to drop to want to improve your life. Most of these people say the same things. My all time favorites are
“New Year, New Me”
“No negative energy in _________ (fill in year)” and rounding out the top three
“I’m leaving you in ________ (fill in year).”
All of this in my opinion is stupid. I understand all of this is said with good intentions and everything but this isn’t realistic at all.
Firstly, “New Year, New Me” absolute nonsense. You can barely l change your clothes in 60 seconds, how do expect to change your whole lifestyle in that amount of time? You are who you are. You can’t change that. What you can do is change situations you are in and the way in which you go about handling them.
That brings me to the next “resolution”. Negative energy isn’t always a bad thing. Anger is important. It is necessary for significant growth. What brings you the most grief is clue to what you are assigned to heal.
And lastly, this “leaving people in the yesteryear” doesn’t make any sense. Ask yourself “in whose presence am I most energized?”. Chances are someone you decided to leave in the yesteryear might be one of those people who brings the best out in you.
Keep in mind these few things. You are who you are. You can’t change that. What you can do is change situations you are in and the way in which you go about handling them. Get angry from time to time. You need it to grow. Don’t let your pride get in the way. If there is someone whose absence makes a difference in your life, extend an olive branch. Whatever happens, happens. At least you can say you tried.
Don’t make resolutions. Make goals. Tangible goals. Don’t drop the ball this year.
